Our colleague Marloes took a trip to South Africa last summer. She went to many different places. In this blog she gives her best tips for Cape Town!

Picnicking with sunset

Whether you are alone, with friends/friends or with your partner, a picnic at Signal Hill is an absolute must. Here you have views of the city and fantastic views of Table Mountain.

Hiking on Lions Head

The Lions Head is a well-known, challenging mountain but not too long a hike. You will even encounter paths with ladders and handholds; a real climb in other words! During the hike you will enjoy stunning views of all sides of Cape Town.

Lower main road

In the Observatory neighborhood you will find the street Lower main road. There are a number of nice restaurants on this street. My favorites were Honeybun, Cocoa Cha Chi and Obz Cafe. One thing I won't forget is the FAB Pizza at Cocoa Cha Chi. This combination stands for Feta, Avocado and Bacon, great taste!

Old cookie Mill

Are you near Old Biscuit Mill on the weekend, you can eat here ge-wel-dig! I myself am not a big fan of the food and dishes in the Netherlands, but this was really that good! It's called The Neighbourgoods Market, at the Old Biscuit Mill location. You can also shop very nice souvenirs here, these are just a bit more unique than other souvenirs. You may also know this place from last season of Who is the Mole.

Outdoor cinema

If you go to South Africa during the summer, an outdoor cinema is a must! We went to the outdoor cinema at Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden, this was so much fun!

Vineyards

Are you a real wine lover and would love to taste the delicious South African wines? Around Cape Town you have Constantia, here you have beautiful vineyards and farms to taste them. Tip; in Stellenbosch there is an even wider range of beautiful vineyards!

Swimming with seals

That sounds like a dream right? At Houtbaai you can swim between/with seals. There is also a market with delicious food and the nicest souvenirs.

Township tour of Langa township

Book a township tour of Langa township on Sunday. In addition to an impressive tour with beautiful encounters, you will also visit their church. The experience and atmosphere you feel there cannot be expressed in words.

Dive into history

You will find museums about history in the city area and they are all worthwhile. We went to Castle of Good Hope, which was very impressive.

Wandering around

In the "Gardens" area you can have very nice food and walk around. The Woodstock neighborhood is a real creative neighborhood, you will find many murals here. You will also find beautiful spots beach at Clifton Beach and Camps Bay and of course Bo-Kaap not to be missed with all the beautiful cultures and colored neighborhoods.

As you can probably understand, Marloes had a great time! Did you know that South Africa will be represented at Vakantiebeurs in 2024? Come get inspired from Jan. 11 to 14 at Vakantiebeurs in Jaarbeurs Utrecht!
